At Othmerding Mechanical Engineering, we stand above all for innovative solutions and customized products that meet our customers' requirements. Our services cover the following areas.
Product development
Our range of services begins with product development. In our own development department, we focus on developing and testing new products and services. We are currently working on robotic systems for agriculture and battery systems based on LFP cells. At the same time, we are continuously working on the further development of our existing machines. We are also happy to consider inquiries and suggestions from customers with special requirements. In close cooperation, we then develop solutions that ideally develop into successful products and can be produced by us.
Production
As soon as development is complete and the product is well thought out, it goes into production. We attach great importance to well-structured processes, as they are at the heart of efficient production. From careful planning to on-time material procurement, we are consistently focused on digitalization and use powerful software to avoid delays throughout the value chain.
Our production chain begins with sheet metal processing, where we receive finished laser-cut parts according to our specifications. The sheet metal blanks are then passed through our 1500 mm wide Lissmac grinding machine to round off all edges and thus ensure a high-quality powder coating. Most of the sheets are then folded, for which we use our 135-ton CNC press brake, which can process sheets up to 3 meters wide. After folding, the sheets are given a 3D shape and can be welded into housings or machine parts. We often lack metal construction profiles and turned and milled parts for welding. The profiles are delivered as 6-meter bars from suppliers and cut to size on our band saw.
We also produce all turned and milled parts in our machining center, which is equipped with a DMG lathe. Shafts with a diameter of Ø 400 mm and a length of 800 mm can be machined here. Welding is carried out in accordance with DIN-ISO 1090 EXC3 standards. We use a welding robot to weld components from a batch size of 20 pieces. The robot can produce components with dimensions of 3,500 x 1200 x 1200 mm. All other welding work is carried out at our well-equipped manual welding stations.
Once the assemblies have been welded and cleaned, they are handed over to a powder coating company in the neighboring town for complete painting of the machine parts.
Installation
In final assembly, all previously manufactured and purchased individual parts are brought together to form assemblies and finally complete machines and appliances. This process requires extreme precision and care in order to meet the high quality requirements of our customers. Our assembly and quality assurance team consists of well-trained employees in the fields of electrical engineering, mechatronics and mechanics. At the end of the process chain, functional tests are carried out, documentation is prepared and a final quality check is performed before the machines are packed and shipped.
