Company history

Welcome to Othmerding Mechanical Engineering, a pioneer in mechanical engineering and battery technology, born from the visionary spirit of Torben Othmerding in 2010. Our journey began in a barn on a farm, where we initially took on simple welding, turning and assembly work. Our first projects, such as the development of innovative pruning shears for local agricultural companies and a customized lawn roller for the garden landscaping company Wilmers, laid the foundation for our forward-looking path.

Through creative solutions and customer-oriented service, we developed the first battery-powered turf roller in response to the need for more efficient, quieter and environmentally friendly equipment. This success led to the launch of our first battery-powered turf construction machine at the GalaBau trade fair in Nuremberg in 2014. Our passion for innovation and commitment to quality brought us together with Theo Kneilmann, another developer and visionary. This fruitful partnership led to the development and production of several ground-breaking machines, including the battery-powered big bale wagon and the "Zaunkönig", an innovative mowing machine. The move to Ascheberg-Davensberg in 2015 marked another milestone in our history. Here, we intensified our collaboration with Kneilmann Gerätebau and began a new era of cooperation, which also included our relationship with Klaas-Kranbau. Together we solved complex design tasks and manufactured assemblies for cranes.

The next big step was our entry into the world of agricultural robotics. Our DEEP FARM BOTS network paved the way for the development of field robots and brought us into contact with leading companies and academic institutions. This collaboration resulted in advanced robotics projects and a state-of-the-art battery system that is now in series production and installed in Klaas-Kranbau cranes.
